When you are driving on the Pyongyang-Hyangsan Tourist Road along the Chongchon River, which marks the boundary between the middle and northern parts in western Korea, you will see the construction sites of power stations making magnificent appearance. They are some of the power stations in tiers which are under construction, extending for nearly 40% of the 217-km-long river. The Workers’ Party of Korea and the government of the DPRK mapped out a plan of increasing electric power generation with water resources rich in the country as the main. To realize the plan, the builders broke the ground at the same time in ten places along the river at the outset of last year. The Chongchon basin is a region of heavy rain in Korea. Owing to the unexpected torrential rain that hit the region this year as did the previous year, the river became risen hampering the project. The Mannyon Pharmaceutical Factory located in Pyongyang, the capital of the DPRK, has been widely known as a specialized enterprise which produces scores of kinds of Koryo medicines and health supplements with splendid medicinal efficacy that are prepared with natural medicinal herbs rich in Korea. With a long history in production of Koryo medicines, the factory is equipped with up-to-date production processes that fully conform to GMP management system and is staffed with a number of competent pharmacists. It turns out a rich variety of Kaesong Koryo insam products in the form of paste, tea, tablet, pill, drink, extract and injection, all of which are prepared by combining traditional Koryo recipe with sophisticated technology. Kaesong Koryo Natural Insam, Kaesong Koryo Natural Insam in Honey, Kaesong Koryo Insam Nutritive Powder, Kyongokgo, Injingo and Ryukmigo are its principal products; they are now finding their way into overseas markets. Scores of kinds of teas, including Kaesong Koryo Insam Tea, Kasiogalphi (Cortex Eleutherococcus) Tea and Saengdangssuk (Herba Artemisiae Messer-Schmiditianae) Tea are highly efficacious for recovering mental and physical fatigue, improving metabolism and preventing radiation sickness. |
