The beach of Lake Chon on Mt Paektu is one of the geological sites in the Mt Paektu area registered as a global geopark.

It is an extraordinary place that looks like a sandy beach which was created through the accumulation of pyroclastic debris from the Mt Paektu volcano on the shore of the lake by the waves of the lake.

Toward the rim of the caldera lake, there spreads a lake similar to a lagoon. You will feel as if you are on the seashore when you walk along the sandy beach.

It is an exceptional phenomenon that cannot be seen in other caldera lakes.
