Ulmil Pavilion Adds Beauty to Moran Hill
Moran Hill is not only beautiful but famous for many historical remains, including Ulmil Pavilion.
The pavilion was built in the mid-6th century as the northern command post of the Inner Wall of the Walled City of Pyongyang in the period of Koguryo. It is a valuable architectural heritage which shows the creative wisdom and talents of the Korean ancestors.
Since ancient times the spring scenery of the pavilion has been famous as one of the eight scenic attractions in Pyongyang as it commands a bird’s eye view of the beautiful city. The pavilion is all the more well-known as it is associated with the stories of the ancestors who fought against foreign invaders.
It was devastated during the Fatherland Liberation War, but it has been restored to its original state.
The pavilion adds beauty to Moran Hill and shows the fortification skills and outstanding talents of the Koguryo people. It is now a cultural resort for the Korean people.
