Natural Monument: Kapsan Red Elm

The red elm, which belongs to the elm family, is a deciduous, broad-leaved tall tree. It is planted mainly in parks and pleasure grounds as it spreads out many branches.

The tree grows in the campus of Songam Senior Middle School in Songam-ri, Kapsan County, Ryanggang Province.

It is 25m tall, 7.4m round at the root collar, 5.5m round at the chest height and 23.5 m across at its crown.
