Grillroom and Korean Mats

One August day in 1985, the great leader Comrade Kim Jong Il looked round the Yaksan Restaurant in the newly-built Changgwang Street.

When he was guided into a grillroom, he sat down on a chair and gazed at the cosy room for a while. Then, he said: The floor of the grillroom on which guests sit to have grilled meat should be covered with Korean mats.

The Korean mat with a long history has many advantages as it does not easily snap even after folding and spreading it repeatedly, and its smooth and soft surface gives a cool feel in summer and a warm feel in winter.

After a while, Comrade Kim Jong Il continued: The elderly might come here in the future on hearing the news about the grillroom. They would be pleased to have grilled meat sitting on the mats in the paper-floored room.

Accordingly, the floor of the grillroom was covered with the Korean mats.

The officials realized once again the ennobling love for the nation of Comrade Kim Jong Il who was much concerned about ensuring the national sentiment of the people even in case of building a structure for their sake.
