Amid the unabated bloodshed in the war-torn Middle East, the Israeli regime recently announced the seizure of 12.7 square km of the Palestinian land in the West Bank under its occupation.

A settlement watchdog termed it the biggest-ever seizure in 30 years, saying about 23.7 square km of land in the West Bank has been declared as part of Israel's "state territory" this year alone.

The Ninth Congress of the Korean Children’s Union was held in Pyongyang, the capital of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea, late in December Juche 111 (2022).

On New Year’s Day in 2023, some days later, the respected fatherly Marshal Kim Jong Un told officials that he would have a photo session with the participants in the congress. He said: We made preparations for the congress with much effort for its importance. With an eye to enjoying New Year’s Day together with the KCU delegates, I made sure that special gifts were prepared for them and that they stayed in Pyongyang for over ten days, holding the congress and touring the capital city, and I enjoyed the grand performance in celebration of the New Year with them. The participants in the current congress are the sons and daughters of ordinary working people who trust and faithfully follow our Party alone. Today is New Year’s Day. They will eagerly wait for me. I am going to have a photo taken with them lest their parents should be disappointed.
